Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Taunton, MA area
Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for optimizing production processes, developing CNC programs, designing fixtures, and implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a metal fabrication environment and ideally have a mix of hands-on experience, manufacturing & process engineering knowledge, and technical problem-solving skills to support our custom equipment manufacturing operations.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a low-to-mid volume, high-complexity manufacturing environment and enjoys working on customized, precision-engineered machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Development & Optimization
- Analyze, develop, and refine manufacturing processes for improved efficiency and quality.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S, and continuous improvement strategies to reduce waste and increase productivity.
- Create and maintain Work Process Instructions (WPI) to ensure consistency in production.
Machining & CNC Programming
- Program and optimize CNC machines using CAMWorks and/or G-code to ensure high-precision manufacturing.
- Design and develop custom work-holding fixtures in SolidWorks to enhance production accuracy and efficiency.
- Support manual and CNC machining operations to troubleshoot issues and refine processes.
Equipment Design & Customization
- Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and improve custom, industrial equipment designs.
- Assist in prototyping, testing, and validating new components for custom systems.
- Work on specialized machinery.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with machine builders, assembly teams, and shop floor operators to ensure efficient workflows.
- Provide technical guidance and support to machinists and technicians on CNC programming and process improvements.
- Interface with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components for optimized manufacturing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. (not required)
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, machining, or CNC programming
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining, manual machining, and process optimization, ideally.
Other Desirable Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM, MasterCAM, G-code programming, and CNC machining processes, a plus.
- Strong SolidWorks skills for designing fixtures, tooling, and work-holding solutions.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies.
- Experience working with custom industrial equipment, automation, and precision machining is a plus.
