Manufacturing Trainer

Location: Midvale, UT area 

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Trainer to join our team as our Manufacturing Trainer for this facility. The role involves evaluating employee skills, conducting targeted training, and working with shop employees to develop new skills in manufacturing processes, helping to establish workflows and building employee proficiency in those workflows. You will be responsible for the training plan around onboarding, developing training schedules, and maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards, while ensuring employees are equipped to succeed in their roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and address skill gaps in production.
  • Conduct onboarding and new employee training.
  • Develop and document processes, testing procedures, and checklists (e.g., Day 1, week 1, month 1).
  • Lead training initiatives and roll out to teams.
  • Further develop and implement procedures, JSAs, LOTO, and method sheets (e.g., cutting sequence, loading logs).
  • Create engaging training content, including videos for fabrication processes and machine-specific training.
  • Develop and manage training schedules/templates.
  • Conduct cross-training on specialized tools and processes (e.g., HDPE, cut-grooving).
  • Teach welding skills (GMAW-P, GTAW) and train employees on machinery operation.
  • Manage crane and forklift training schedules, ensuring certifications are up-to-date.
  • Support FEM, 5S, and safety training across all facilities.
  • Oversee waste management and facility standardizations.
  • Validate the documentation of procedures, checklists, and audits (e.g., groove inspections, labeling, shadow boards).
  • Conduct QA audits and ensure consistency of project binders across facilities.
  • Track employee progress, encourage skill development, and measure the effectiveness of training programs.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in a Training or Learning and Development capacity.
  • Ideally, some experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication or paint & coatings, but not required.
  • Understanding of work flows and standard works and being able to train people on the proper processes and best practices. ???????
