Summary
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Mechanical Drafter / Detailer to support custom fabrication, pipe detailing, and 3D modeling activities across a variety of industrial projects. This role works closely with VDC, fabrication, and leadership teams to develop accurate drawings and models that support manufacturing and project execution.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with strong visualization skills, mechanical aptitude, and an interest in drafting, modeling, and fabrication environments. Candidates may come from manufacturing, construction, industrial, piping, HVAC, fabrication, or other technical drafting backgrounds. The organization is open to both experienced professionals and trainable candidates with strong potential.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create, revise, and maintain detailed mechanical and fabrication drawings
- Develop and support 3D models for fabricated components and piping systems
- Assist with detailing activities for custom weldments and heavy fabricated products
- Interpret technical drawings, layouts, and production requirements
- Collaborate with VDC, fabrication, and project teams to support project execution
- Maintain accuracy and organization of drawings, revisions, and documentation
- Support manufacturing teams with drawing clarification and technical information
- Learn company products, systems, standards, and workflows
- Continuously improve detailing accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround time
Qualifications
- Experience with drafting, detailing, CAD, or 3D modeling preferred
- Strong visualization and spatial reasoning ability required
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of technical drawings
- Exposure to fabrication, piping, industrial systems, or manufacturing environments preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar software is helpful
- Pipe detailing or fabrication detailing experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to learn systems, processes, and technical requirements quickly
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable working collaboratively across departments
- Positive, easy-going personality with a strong work ethic and accountability
- Open to entry-level or developing candidates with strong aptitude and trainability
Compensation & Schedule
- Hourly Non-Exempt Position
- Compensation Range: $25–$30/hour
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

First 30 / 60 / 90 Day Focus
First 30 Days
- Learn company products, systems, and workflows
- Become familiar with drawings, tools, and detailing standards
- Build relationships with fabrication and VDC teams
First 60 Days
- Begin contributing to active drafting and detailing projects
- Increase independence with assignments and workflows
- Continue building technical proficiency
First 90 Days
- Function independently on drafting and detailing assignments
- Improve speed and accuracy of deliverables
- Build trust and collaboration across internal teams
