Location: Duluth, GA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Compensation: $75k-95k base salary + up to $5,000 annual performance bonus

Summary

TES Recruiting is partnering with a growing structural steel fabrication company seeking a hands-on Working Foreman / Lead Structural Steel Fabricator to support daily shop operations and help lead a small production team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with strong MIG welding and structural steel fabrication experience who enjoys working alongside the team while helping drive production, quality, safety, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate is currently a lead welder, lead fabricator, shop lead, or “number two” in a fabrication shop and is looking for an opportunity to grow into greater leadership responsibility with a stable, growth-oriented company.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead daily workflow for a team of 3–6 welders, fabricators, and machine operators
• Perform hands-on MIG welding and structural steel fabrication work
• Read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings and blueprints
• Coordinate production schedules and prioritize workflow across the shop
• Troubleshoot fabrication, workflow, and production issues
• Support material flow, scheduling, and overall shop efficiency
• Operate fabrication equipment including plasma tables, presses, and ironworkers
• Assist with fabrication setup, fixtures, and production processes
• Train and mentor team members on welding, fabrication, and shop best practices
• Inspect finished work to ensure quality and customer specifications are met
• Promote a safe, clean, and organized fabrication environment
• Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives throughout the shop
• Coordinate with internal departments regarding production schedules and priorities

Qualifications

• 5+ years of structural steel fabrication and MIG welding experience
• Strong MIG welding experience required
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints
• Experience leading, training, or coordinating small fabrication teams
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Understanding of production scheduling and fabrication workflow
• Hands-on fabrication mindset with strong attention to detail
• Forklift experience preferred

Preferred Experience

• Plasma table operation experience
• Press brake and ironworker experience
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Continuous Improvement environments
• Experience working in production-driven structural steel fabrication shops

Work Environment

• Structural steel fabrication shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, and welding fumes
• PPE required at all times
• Hands-on role requiring standing, bending, lifting, and shop floor activity throughout the day
