About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership for HVAC and plumbing design on a variety of commercial building projects. This role is responsible for leading mechanical engineering efforts from concept through construction, mentoring engineering staff, ensuring high-quality project deliverables, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, code-compliant, and efficient building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical engineering design for assigned projects, ensuring technical excellence, quality, and timely project delivery.
- Develop and manage project work plans, schedules, and engineering deliverables.
- Perform and oversee HVAC and plumbing system selection, basis of design development, and engineering calculations.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate mechanical and plumbing construction documents and specifications.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to mechanical engineers and designers.
- Coordinate mechanical and plumbing system designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
- Attend project meetings and effectively communicate project status, design solutions, and technical recommendations with clients and project teams.
- Represent the mechanical engineering discipline during client meetings and presentations.
- Provide construction administration support, including submittal reviews, responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), and field coordination as needed.
- Assist in maintaining and improving mechanical and plumbing engineering standards, design guidelines, and quality assurance procedures.
- Review engineering documents for technical accuracy, code compliance, and adherence to project requirements.
- Serve as a senior technical resource, providing support and guidance to project engineers and designers throughout all phases of design.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to resolve design challenges and ensure successful project execution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 8 years of HVAC and plumbing design experience within the built environment.
- Experience designing commercial building mechanical systems from concept through construction.
- Proficiency with Revit and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using Trane Trace load calculation software.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and plumbing system design, applicable building codes, and industry standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present technical information to clients, project teams, and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting multidisciplinary project teams preferred.
