Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Automation Technician with a strong background in electrical panel wiring, low-voltage automation systems, and PLC troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment. This individual will support automated equipment through panel building, wiring, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and light PLC programming. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Build, wire, and assemble industrial control panels including PLCs, relays, terminal blocks, and power supplies
• Perform point-to-point wiring for low-voltage control systems including 24VDC, 120VAC, Ethernet, analog signals, and communication cables
• Install and terminate sensors, proximity switches, encoders, solenoids, and other field devices
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control system issues on automated manufacturing equipment
• Support light PLC programming and modifications using Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and control drawings
• Maintain and troubleshoot industrial communication networks such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profinet
• Perform preventative maintenance on PLCs, HMIs, control panels, and automation systems
• Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new automation equipment and upgrades
• Maintain accurate wiring documentation, program backups, and as-built drawings
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards
• Assist with operator and technician training related to automation systems and troubleshooting
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability and operational efficiency

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Electrical Technology, Automation Technology, Mechatronics, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, electrical controls, or panel building environments
• Strong experience with electrical panel assembly and low-voltage wiring
• Experience troubleshooting PLC systems, preferably Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 / RSLogix or Siemens TIA Portal
• Understanding of relay logic, analog and digital I/O, field devices, and industrial controls
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and panel layout drawings
• Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols
• Experience using multimeters, cable testers, and electrical diagnostic equipment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building UL-listed or CE-rated control panels
• Basic HMI configuration and troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of VFDs, servo drives, and motion control systems
• Experience in packaging, material handling, food processing, or light manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software
