Summary:
We are seeking a Director of Planning & Logistics to lead end-to-end planning and logistics operations across the enterprise. This role will be responsible for improving on-time delivery performance, optimizing inventory health, reducing premium freight and total logistics cost, and strengthening S&OP and IBP effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will bring strong planning fundamentals, ERP/MRP expertise, and the ability to build disciplined operating cadence across Sales, Operations, Procurement, and Finance.
Key Responsibilities
Planning Leadership (Demand, Supply & Capacity)
- Lead and formalize S&OP and IBP processes
- Translate demand signals and order book visibility into executable production and procurement plans
- Establish and govern planning parameters including safety stock, reorder points, and lead times
- Manage constraints across capacity, materials, and labor
- Improve ERP/MRP parameter governance and master data integrity
Logistics & Distribution
- Own inbound and outbound logistics strategy including carrier mix, routing guides, freight contracts, claims, and 3PL partnerships
- Improve distribution center performance across receiving, dock-to-stock, picking, packing, and shipping
- Reduce premium freight through improved planning discipline and root cause elimination
Performance Management
Define and manage KPIs including:
- OTD / OTIF
- Forecast accuracy
- Schedule attainment
- Inventory turns
- Premium freight
- Freight cost per unit
- Dock-to-stock
- Lead structured root cause and corrective action initiatives
Leadership
- Lead and develop planning and logistics teams
- Establish accountability and performance standards
- Drive cross-functional alignment through data-driven decision-making
Qualifications
- 8+ years of planning, logistics, or supply chain leadership experience within manufacturing.
- Working in a custom manufacturing environment would be ideal. Complex value streams from order, to BOM, to engineering / design, production, inventory control to end product.
- Director-level experience preferred
- Proven success improving delivery performance, inventory metrics, and logistics cost
- Strong ERP/MRP knowledge and planning fundamentals
- Experience leading S&OP or IBP processes with measurable results
- Lean, A3, or DMAIC experience preferred
Travel
15–25% as required.
