Maintenance Planner

Summary:
TES Recruiting is partnering with an established manufacturing organization to identify an experienced Maintenance Planner/Scheduler. This individual will be responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance activities across the facility, ensuring technicians have the labor, materials, tools, parts, and procedures needed to complete work safely and efficiently.
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will manage the complete maintenance workflow, including work identification, planning, scheduling, execution, and auditing. This position will also administer the plant’s EPAC maintenance system, support preventive maintenance programs, track departmental performance, and supervise storeroom activities.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized maintenance professional who understands how effective planning and scheduling improve reliability, technician productivity, and plant performance. This person should be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, managing multiple priorities, and bringing structure and accountability to the maintenance workflow.
Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed job plans for equipment and facility repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance activities.

Define the labor requirements, materials, replacement parts, tools, safety considerations, and work procedures needed for each planned job.

Prepare daily and weekly work schedules supporting multiple supervisors and a maintenance team of up to 20 technicians.

Manage the maintenance workflow from initial work identification through planning, scheduling, execution, completion, and auditing.

Lead maintenance scheduling for planned shutdowns, down days, and regular production days.

Coordinate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and other plant functions to establish priorities and minimize production disruption.

Generate purchase requests for non-stock parts, materials, and tools required to complete planned work.

Develop job cost estimates and monitor departmental spending against budget.

Track and report maintenance performance metrics and KPIs, including schedule compliance, work-order completion, backlog, downtime, and preventive maintenance performance.

Create and maintain preventive maintenance work orders within EPAC, including job plans, task instructions, required resources, and maintenance frequencies.

Serve as the plant administrator and primary resource for the EPAC maintenance management system.

Maintain equipment records and asset hierarchies, generate preventive maintenance work, produce reports, and provide system support and training to plant personnel.

Supervise Storeroom Attendant(s) and support effective inventory management, parts availability, and storeroom organization.

Identify opportunities to improve maintenance planning, scheduling, preventive maintenance, and overall equipment reliability.
Qualifications

Associate degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Logistics, or a related technical field, or completion of a recognized journeyman program.

At least 10 years of industrial maintenance experience, including a minimum of two years in a maintenance planning or scheduling role.

At least five years of maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial plant environment.

Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance activities, preventive maintenance programs, and industrial equipment.

Previous experience using a computerized maintenance management system is required. Experience with EPAC is strongly preferred.

Proficiency with computers and standard business software, including Microsoft Office.

Demonstrated ability to develop detailed job plans, organize competing priorities, and coordinate work across multiple departments.

Experience supporting planned shutdowns and scheduling work for a multidisciplined maintenance team.

Strong cost-estimating, budget-tracking, and maintenance reporting skills.

Prior supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to build productive working relationships with maintenance technicians, supervisors, plant leadership, operations personnel, vendors, and other stakeholders.
