About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to support the design, documentation, fabrication, and installation of industrial mechanical equipment and systems. This role will primarily focus on developing detailed part, weldment, assembly, and installation drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, while working closely with engineering, fabrication, customers, and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop detailed part, weldment, assembly, and installation drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.

Interpret existing drawings and revise or update designs as needed to meet project requirements.

Create installation drawings and ensure all title block information and drawing documentation follow internal standards.

Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and specify required materials and components, including sheet metal, structural steel, bearings, reducers, hardware, and related equipment.

Research previous job documentation, engineering records, and drawing archives to identify reference designs and opportunities for component or design reuse.

Support the fabrication shop by answering drawing-related questions, resolving design issues, and ensuring drawings are accurate, practical, and manufacturable.

Conduct field measurements of equipment components and assemblies for reverse engineering, design validation, and documentation purposes.

Communicate with customers and internal teams to clarify project details, equipment requirements, dimensions, installation requirements, and other design considerations.

Follow established engineering workflow procedures for drawing creation, checking, approval, archiving, and release for fabrication.

Assist team members with coordinated engineering tasks, shared projects, and other design activities.

Perform engineering filing, data entry, document control, and general documentation management.

Perform calculations related to equipment sizing, weights, loads, and other basic mechanical design requirements.

Support continuous improvement of engineering and drafting processes.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial mechanical systems.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.

Ability to create accurate detail drawings, assembly drawings, installation drawings, and Bills of Materials.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform precise measurements and maintain accurate documentation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access.

Ability to climb, maneuver in tight spaces, and perform field measurements when necessary.

Ability to work in various industrial environments and navigate varying terrain when visiting customers.

Ability to understand and adhere to company and site-specific safety protocols while traveling and visiting customer locations.

Willingness to work additional hours during peak seasonal workloads.

OSHA 10-Hour certification required.

1–2 years of experience in mechanical design, detailing, drafting, or industrial fabrication preferred.

Technical degree or certificate in mechanical engineering, drafting, mechanical design, or a related field preferred.

Experience with heavy industrial machinery preferred.

Hands-on experience in mechanical, manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environments preferred.

Familiarity with engineering systems, databases, job-tracking tools, document management systems, or drawing archives preferred.
