Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer –MEP 
Location: Falls Church, VA 22042
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract to hire 

About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Duties will include building information modeling (BIM), design, drawing production, specification writing, discipline coordination between the various trades, shop drawing and submittal reviews, construction site reviews, and code reviews for MEP systems. Focus will be on the mechanical systems for buildings
Experience:

  • Experience in the design of HVAC, hydronic piping systems, central plants, building automation, medical gas, plumbing, and fire protection systems for various types of projects including commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare and residential construction.
  • Must have experience in running HVAC loads and energy modeling using Trane Trace software.
  • Experience using HVAC Solutions software is preferred.
  • Must have experience designing mechanical systems for buildings in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Must be a self-starter with initiative, drive and determination.
  • Ability to provide Quality Assurance for ongoing construction projects.
  • Develop working knowledge of all technical requirements of projects.
  • Review contractor submittals from mechanical engineering perspective.
  • Prepare responses to RFI questions related to mechanical engineering.
  • Evaluate proposed submittal substitutions with mechanical engineering implications.
  • Coordinate development of Independent Estimates for modifications and change orders.
  • Review and evaluate design calculations and data from mechanical engineering perspective.
  • Ability to work in team oriented environment with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain and foster relationships with selected established clients.
  • Prepare monthly progress report summarizing project status, with emphasis on mechanical engineering.
Requirements:
  • BSME or Arch Engineering degree.
  • 5 to 10 years of specific experience with MEP projects, especially, mechanical system design
  • PE not Required but Future Ability to obtain Professional Registrations in Virginia, Maryland and/or District of Columbia a Plus.
  • LEED AP accreditation is desirable.
  • United States Citizenship and/or legal ability to work in US; REQUIRED
  • No relocation expenses will be paid.
  • Must have REVIT and AutoCAD that mirrors job experience requirements for this position.
