Summary:
TES Recruiting is partnering with a global industrial manufacturer seeking a Welding Trainer to develop employee welding capabilities across multiple fabrication facilities. This is a hands-on training role for someone who can assess skill levels, explain welding concepts clearly and coach employees through practical improvement. The company values credible welding experience, but communication, patience and the ability to connect with employees are just as important as being the most technically advanced welder in the market.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate employee welding skills and identify individual strengths, gaps and development needs.
  • Deliver hands-on instruction in pipe and plate welding processes, including FCAW, GMAW and GTAW.
  • Create practical training materials such as written guides, presentations, demonstrations and videos.
  • Conduct welder testing and support qualification or certification activities under applicable AWS, ASME and internal standards.
  • Develop individualized training plans and monitor progress through consistent feedback and coaching.
  • Assess internal and external welding candidates for technical ability and training readiness.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee qualifications, certifications and training progress.
  • Identify high-potential employees and support progression into more advanced welding assignments.
  • Stay current on welding technology and incorporate relevant improvements into the training program.
  • Reinforce company safety, 5S and workplace standards while supporting training at multiple facilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; welding certifications or formal training credentials are preferred.
  • Strong hands-on welding experience in manufacturing, steel fabrication or a comparable industrial environment.
  • Experience with pipe, plate and stainless-steel welding using FCAW, GMAW, GTAW or related processes.
  • Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols and technical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of welder qualification practices and relevant AWS, ASME, ASTM or AWWA standards.
  • Strong communication, coaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to employees at different skill levels.
  • Robotic welding or programming experience is helpful but not required.
  • Travel: Approximately 50%, primarily supporting facilities in Houston, Texas and Kansas City, Missouri.
